Yesterday I went with a friend to visit Purezza, the UK’s only plant-based pizzeria! All their food is vegan, organic and environmentally friendly. I had a brilliant time there! The food was delicious! I was blown away by the fantastic selection to choose from – I can’t wait to go back and try all the pizzas. I had the Marinara pizza, which is tomato sauce, with garlic, oregano and basil, while my friend had the Margherita pizza, which is tomato sauce with cheese and basil. They were absolutely gorgeous!! Phenomenal flavours.
Here you can see the starters and specials – I was very tempted by the garlic bread, I definitely want to get some of that next time! I’d also like to try the Hoisin pizza, and the Nacho pizza!
Here they are! I was so excited by the arrival of my pizza that I forgot to take a picture of it before I started eating! This is the Marinara:
And this is the Margherita:
Here is a slice of mine – it’s really perfect pizza, so thin and soft and crunchy all at the same time.
Once we had finished our pizzas we could not resist the dessert menu! I was just so thrilled by the selection! I was very tempted by the Apple Pie Calzone, the Chocolate Brownie and the Cheesecake, especially as they all come with a scoop of ice cream! But when we came to order, the waiter recommended the Chocolate Calzone, so I had that!
And I was very glad that I did! The Chocolate Calzone is heavenly! It’s a folded pizza with Italian chocolate spread, walnuts and pistachios!!! And I chose to have it with chocolate ice cream. Isn’t it beautiful? It’s a work of art! And it tastes so good too!
It was delicious! I recommend it to you all.
As soon as I got home I wanted to go back. I can’t wait to go back and try everything else on the menu! I hope you can visit them too, and see how wonderful it all is! The staff were really friendly and helpful, checking on us a few times to see that everything was great. The music was lovely too.
Tammy and I thought this was a fantastic place! With fair trade organic lemonade! And chocolate sponge cake!
We had cake first, of course, and this was fantastic. Mmm tasty 🙂
And then it was time to try the Loving Hut burger! This was delicious in a toasted sesame bun with vegan cheese and gherkins and onion slices 😀
Here is a painting from inside the Loving Hut – it says “The best way of life, is the veggie way”
I visited the Loving Hut several times during my stay in Leuven. I went back for chocolate chip cookies, more cake, and on Thursday I tried the Broccoli pasta met champignons en roomsaus! Which was absolutely brilliant! I loved it! Unfortunately by this time in the week my camera battery had run out, so I couldn’t take a photograph. I did draw a picture of it:
Shavt “Simply Healthy And Vegan Things” is a brilliant shop which I visited while I was in Belgium. They have a great selection of vegan foods for meals, snacks and sweets as well as other things like lip balm!
Unfortunately my camera battery died after I took this picture. But! I want to recommend you go and look at these other blogs which have great posts to show off the wonders of Shavt!
I visited Greenway vegetarian restaurant! I came here twice on my visit to Leuven, and it is a brilliant place. 🙂 You can eat in or take-away, so I did both!
I arrived just when they had opened on my first visit!
I had vegan spaghetti bolognese with toasted cashews on top to take-away! It was fantastic and delicious!
Here you can see Jermaine posing with it in a cardboard box!
And here he is with it on a plate!
It really was brilliant food. And excellent service from very friendly people!
On my second visit I chose a “wortelburger” from the menu, which I chose because it said it was vegan! I have since discovered that “wortel” means “carrot” 🙂 This was very tasty, in a toasted bun, with lettuce and pineapple! Scrumptious!
I highly recommend you visit this restaurant, they have a wide selection of tasty foods for all your preferences and desires! I liked the seating too – I sat at a high table on a high stool with my feet dangling off the ground! If that doesn’t sound appealing to you, don’t worry, there are lots of tables at conventional heights.

I have been on holiday to Leuven in Belgium! I chose to visit Leuven because I discovered that they have a Loving Hut. After arriving I was ecstatic to find that they also have Vegaverso a vegan cafe, Greenwaya vegetarian cafe, and Shavt which is a vegan food shop!
Here I am at Vegaverso, vegan cafe in Leuven, Belgium!
This is a wonderful cafe which serves a delicious and tasty selection of vegan sandwiches and cakes!
It took me a while to decide what to have, there is so much to choose from!
I had a peanut butter and jelly cupcake, a vanilla cupcake and a chocolate cupcake, on different visits! They were all delicious and beautiful!
I also tried a chocolate coconut macaroon, and an oat cake, which were fantastic!
This is what I had on my first visit to Vegaverso! It was the most scrumptious food you will ever taste! I had vegan cheese with vegenaise and a blueberry cupcake! It was wonderful!
The menus there all have different, individually embroidered fabric covers! They are so special and lovely 😀
If you live anywhere nearby, and even if you don’t, I strongly recommend you make a visit to Vegaverso.
They are open Tuesday to Saturday, 11am to 6pm. You could go now!
I had a wonderful time at this cafe, it is run by friendly people and has a relaxing, happy atmosphere. Brilliant 🙂 Try the chocolate coconut macaroon.
Animals speak to us in their own way,
but if they spoke with words, what would they say?
One thing I declare, without ANY doubt:
All creatures in cages would say ‘Let me out!’
‘Watch my eyes follow your every motion’
A dog would say, ‘my life speaks of devotion’.
A horse would say, ‘A fire burns deep within me
that yearns to run through the countryside, free!’
One way we can improve the human race
is to respect those of a different face.
We need to listen in a whole new way
to what animals are trying to say.
“Well consider the word ‘people’, for example. If I asked someone what the word ‘people’ means they would probably say: “It’s the plural of ‘person’ and a person is a human being.””
“Ok, I’m with you so far …”
“but I think that definition is incomplete.”
“How do you mean?”
“To my mind, the definition of ‘a person’ is anyone with an individual personality. Like you Chiksa, you have your own distinct personality don’t you?”
“Absolutely!”
“And you’re not like every other chicken in the yard?”
“Certainly not! I’m not bossy like Henny-Penny, or painfully shy like Henrietta.”
“So you see my point. You are not human but you have a personality and that makes you a person. That makes all animals people.”
“That’s the logical conclusion to draw, yes.”
“Which brings me to my next thought: why do people think it’s ok to eat people?”
Edmund’s Lunch is back! It’s changed for the better and before it’s available on Amazon (hopefully from tomorrow) you can see it here first! Looky here! 🙂

Luke Walker and the damsons – now available on Amazon Kindle
Luke Walker and the damsons is the second of Violet’s Vegan Comics’ stories to be made available on Kindle. Pop over here to look at the vegan comic for boys on Amazon and, if you like it, maybe you could write a review?
bones and teef is on there too don’t ya know, and this is just the beginning 🙂
1. They are high in antioxidants. They’re rated the fourth highest in antioxidants out of all the fruits, only to be beaten by blackberries, cranberries and raspberries. Antioxidants play a role in keeping our cardiovascular system in tip top shape
2. They’re a great source of vitamin C, which plays a large part in keeping our immune system strong and healthy. Vitamin C can also help fight stress.
3. Strawberries contain magnesium, a mineral that helps our body produce energy and maintain strong bones and healthy teeth.
4. Because they contain potassium, strawberries can help your muscles and nerves function properly, lower your risk of high blood pressure and can help your body maintain healthy electrolyte levels.
5. Given their high antioxidant and anti inflammatory benefits, strawberries are considered a cancer-fighting food.
Oooh, can’t wait til summer – bring on the strawberries! 🙂
We already have a popular vegan comic for girls but here at Violet’s Veg*n e-Comics we don’t want the boys to feel left out so I have enlisted the help of six-year-old twin boys, Thomas and Elliot Thacker to help me with feedback on the creation of a new comic for boys. Thomas and Elliot came up with the excellent name of Luke Walker for the hero of this new series of stories.
8 year old Luke Walker is a determined young man who won’t let a simple thing like doing as he’s told prevent him from helping animals.
So WATCH THIS SPACE, or more importantly, FOLLOW THIS BLOG and don’t miss the launch of the NEW vegan comic for boys, COMING SOON! 🙂
The Mute Swan is so named because it is less vocal than other swans. It is wholly white in plumage with an orange bill bordered with black. It is recognisable by its pronounced knob atop the bill.
