About

Violet’s Vegan Comics is the creation of Violet Plum and Miranda Lemon. We’ve been working on it since 2012 and have loved every minute of it.

We love stories. We love exciting stories, we love scary stories, we love funny stories and action-packed stories, but we don’t like stories in which the heroes eat meat, drink milk, go fishing or buy a leather jacket. When the “good guys” do these things, especially in children’s stories, it sends a message. It says it’s okay to enslave and execute animals. It must be okay, the good guys do it.

But it’s not okay, and we’re tired of reading stories that pretend it is,

so we made some new ones.

The Violet’s Vegan Comics website is not just comics. Our fun, exciting and funny stories take many forms. Most are about vegan children who have battles to fight, victories to win, games to play and cakes to eat, but some are about animals, and some are about aliens. There are even a couple of ghost stories. The comics and stories here are free to read and always will be, but for those who want to hold an actual book in their hands (and you really can’t beat that can you?) you can pop over to our little vegan bookshop and choose from our ever-growing selection of vegan-friendly children’s books in paperback and hardback 😉

For pre-schoolers to teenagers, there are all sorts of vegan children’s stories here. We’ve read some of them aloud for you to enjoy at Vegan Story Time, plus we have vegan nursery rhymes, and vegan poems, and vegan things to make and do!

Our selection is continually growing so keep coming back – and tell your friends!

Why not follow the blog so you don’t miss the new stuff as it comes out?

We hope you enjoy it as much as we do 🙂

Oh, and if you want to drop us a line, please feel free! We’d love to hear from you ❤

  2. Hi Violet, thanks for liking my poetry. Well, I was surprised when someone like you who have good taste in blog, drawing and writing to like my lowly poetry. even more I’m a newbie here. thanks again.
And I love your blog. keep comicing. It’s good for kids to teen. I suggest to slip in some motivation in your comics. So that children can be motivated to do good things in a good way in catching their dreams. 🙂

  3. Hi Violet, Just wanted to stop by and thank you for following my blog, which you’ve been doing for quite some time! Not a vegan, but can say I’ve been a vegetarian since 1982 🙂 Best of luck with your great efforts!!

    • You’re welcome Jude, we follow you because we love your colourful artwork! Delighted to ‘meet’ another veg*n, (it’s wonderful that there are so many of us!) – actually, I think I joined the gang in 1982 too 😉 Thank you for your encouraging words 🙂

I admire you for your ability to make a stand and stick to your guns. I think it’s great that you’re able to do that and also encourage others with your blog. Keep up the good work.:-)

  5. Thanks for poking around my blog with such curiosity and enthusiasm, and leaving a trail of ‘likes’ in your wake. Congratulations on your own blog — I love to see beliefs being shared with joy and fun, instead of a wagging finger.

  6. Wow, what a great concept … I have to take time to look around your blog a bit more but as the mother of a 5 year old son whom we are raising to eat a vegan diet, this really intrigues me. You have taken the time to faithfully “like” many of my posts but I have found it difficult to check out other people’s blogs (how do you do it? I work full time and you know the story – it’s hard enough to find time to write for my blog etc). Anyway, I’ve finally stopped by and am glad I have. I look forward to exploring more of what you are creating.
    Blessings
    Julie:)

    • Thank you Julie, my daughter and I work on this full time because we want to reach as many children as possible to give them encouragement in their compassionate lifestyle and hopefully a lot of fun too. We’re fortunate that we can devote so much time to it and we make a good team 🙂 I hope you like it here when you get a chance to look around and that your son will enjoy it too 😀

      • Indeed, it does look beautiful and a perfect setting for the animals. I was particularly delighted to learn they release the birds back into their natural habitat. And thank you for your Liking! Much appreciated. Best, best, R. nb I did attempt posting this last Wednesday to no avail. Goodness knows where it ended up…
