Violet’s Vegan Comics is the creation of Violet Plum and Miranda Lemon (not our real names). We’ve been working on it since 2012 and have loved every minute of it.

We love stories. We love exciting stories, we love scary stories, we love funny stories and action-packed stories, but we don’t like stories in which the heroes eat meat, drink milk, go fishing or buy a leather jacket. When the “good guys” do these things, especially in children’s stories, it sends a message. It says it’s okay to use, abuse and consume animals. It must be okay, the good guys do it.

But it’s not okay, and we’re tired of reading stories that pretend it is,

so we made some new ones.

The Violet’s Vegan Comics website is not just comics. Our fun, exciting and funny stories take many forms. Most are about vegan children who have battles to fight, victories to win, games to play and cakes to eat, but some are about animals, and some are about aliens. There are even a couple of ghost stories. The comics and stories here are free to read and always will be, but for those who want to hold an actual book in their hands (and you really can’t beat that can you?) you can pop over to our little vegan bookshop and choose from our ever-growing selection of vegan children’s books in paperback and hardback ๐Ÿ˜‰

For pre-schoolers to teenagers, there are all sorts of vegan children’s stories here. We’ve read some of them aloud for you to enjoy at Vegan Story Time, plus we have vegan nursery rhymes, and vegan poems, and vegan things to make and do!

Our selection is continually growing so keep coming back – and tell your friends!

Why not follow the blog so you don’t miss the new stuff as it comes out?

We hope you enjoy it as much as we do ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh, and if you want to drop us a line, please feel free! We’d love to hear from you โค

  1. Thanks for stopping by my blog and ‘liking’ my Chipotle Sauce! WOW! When I came by to see what you are all about, it was a huge surprise. I’ve never seen anything like this before, and it’s awesome! Great work!

  2. This is such a great idea, I’m really enjoying looking around veg*n e-comics. Keep up your good work, it’s inspiring to the rest of us cruelty-free geeks. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Wow….I enjoyed discovering your blog so much! My kids are adults now…..but still…..I spent a long time enjoying your drawing…..now following you….and looking forward for your new creations….

  4. thank you for making these beautiful comics! I do not yet have children, but how wonderful to know that there are people like you helping to empower vegan kids =) What a fun way to reaffirm their choices and hopefully share with friends! { let’s be honest, some days I wish I had some comics to share with non-vegan people}

  5. Hi Veg, Iโ€™ve nominated you for the One Lovely Blog Award because I love reading you blog ๐Ÿ™‚
See my page for more details if you are interested. No pressure!

  6. thanks so much for liking my post Army Strong. I’m looking forward to checking out your blog. As a mother AND a grandmother, I’m certainly interested in what you have to say here! Blessings to you!

  7. I’m no vegan, but I like the style of your blog. Like many people I think many of us now think much more about what we are eating (no bad thing). I’m with you on the Turkeys (shown on either side of this comment box) – I never eat turkey. Wouldn’t it be good if people like me who are “on the road” all day could pull into a Vegan alternative to all the other Fast Food outlets? I’d be up for that.

  8. Thanks for stopping by my blog to like my post on Thich Nhat Hanh’s retranslation of the Heart Sutra, “The Insight that Brings Us to the Other Shore.” Your blog is a great vegan resource! Love it!

  9. A totally new idea for a blog. Reminds me of my school days when I would read the comics from the library.
The artistic work that adorns your blog makes it look so wonderful!
And what more would a reader want than free comics(Oh boy!).
Thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to visit your blog.

  10. Whilst not being Vegan myself I understand (and empathise with) where you’re coming from.

On the diet/health front: saturated fats are right now being rehabilitated, slowlyโ€”and coconut oil is brilliant stuff on all fronts.

I think in the long run it boils down to personal choice and the freedom to simply be yourself. Good luck~!

  14. HI! As you know, I love you site, are you on Twitter? Someone was looking for a vegan UK blogger and I recommended you! Check out @bethers827 and you’ll see the tweets referencing it. Sending #vegan love across the pond;)

    • Hi Beth, thank you for recommending us. We do have a twitter account linked to the blog (ie the posts automatically get posted there) – it’s @VioletsVeganCom – but we don’t actively use it otherwise ๐Ÿ™‚ Facebook and Twitter confuse me ๐Ÿ˜‰
