Violet’s Vegan Comics is the creation of mother and daughter team – Violet Plum and Miranda Lemon (not our real names). We’ve been working on it since 2012 and have loved every minute of it. The picture below, in an imaginative way, represents us 😀 and Miranda’s dad drew the logo.

We love stories. We love exciting stories, we love scary stories, we love funny stories and action-packed stories, but we don’t like stories in which the heroes eat meat, drink milk, go fishing or buy a leather jacket. When the “good guys” do these things, especially in children’s stories, it sends a message. It says it’s okay to use, abuse and consume animals. It must be okay, the good guys do it.
But it’s not okay, and we’re tired of reading stories that pretend it is,

so we made some new ones.
The Violet’s Vegan Comics website is not just comics. Our fun, exciting and funny stories take many forms. Most are about vegan children who have battles to fight, victories to win, games to play and cakes to eat, but some are about animals, and some are about aliens. There are even a couple of ghost stories. The comics and stories here are free to read and always will be, but for those who want to hold an actual book in their hands (and you really can’t beat that can you?) you can pop over to our little vegan bookshop and choose from our ever-growing selection of vegan children’s books in paperback and hardback 😉

For pre-schoolers to teenagers, there are all sorts of vegan children’s stories here. We’ve read some of them aloud for you to enjoy at Vegan Story Time, plus we have vegan nursery rhymes, and vegan poems, and vegan things to make and do!
Our selection is continually growing so keep coming back – and tell your friends!
Why not follow the blog so you don’t miss the new stuff as it comes out?
We hope you enjoy it as much as we do 🙂
Oh, and if you want to drop us a line, please feel free! We’d love to hear from you ❤
You’re very welcome, and thank you too 🙂

I’m no vegan, but I like the style of your blog. Like many people I think many of us now think much more about what we are eating (no bad thing). I’m with you on the Turkeys (shown on either side of this comment box) – I never eat turkey. Wouldn’t it be good if people like me who are “on the road” all day could pull into a Vegan alternative to all the other Fast Food outlets? I’d be up for that.

Absolutely! And I think things are definitely moving in that direction – let’s hope it happens sooner rather than later. Thanks for your comment 🙂

I can’t wait to share some of these stories with my kids. The graphic novel is so appealing for struggling readers and your stories are also interesting. The only part I’ll have to translate is the “accent!”
LikeLike
That’s wonderful, thank you. But which graphic novel do you mean? I don’t know how old your kids are but Maddicts and Let the dogs out are for over 12s. I hope they enjoy them. Thanks again 🙂

Just English dialect (I’ve read through most of the 5s and up) like “on me own,” ‘ave, nuffin, chaps, mum, lads, etc. Nothing major but they don’t sound American. They’ll still enjoy the books!

Whilst not being Vegan myself I understand (and empathise with) where you’re coming from.
On the diet/health front: saturated fats are right now being rehabilitated, slowly—and coconut oil is brilliant stuff on all fronts.
I think in the long run it boils down to personal choice and the freedom to simply be yourself. Good luck~!
