Listen to Edmund’s Lunch on Vegan Story Time

****

Edmund's lunch was a peculiar lunch,
So everybody said,
He wouldn't eat cheese strings, so that was odd,
What was the thinking in his head?

He wouldn't eat ham at all,
Or eggs or even honey,
So everyone said he was strange,
The way his mind worked was funny.

He wouldn't eat a milk chocolate Penguin,
A Jaffa Cake or a Wagon Wheel,
So they couldn't understand
How he could possibly enjoy his meal.

But Edmund was a sensible child
With kind heart and good disposition.
He always tried to explain when they asked
Though uncertain that they would listen.

"A cow's milk is for her calf," he said,
"The bees need all their honey.
Hens are not just machines that make eggs,
It's not fair when they're used to make money."

"I don't want animals killed for me," he said,
"For a sausage, a burger, or pie.
I want them to live happy lives like me."
And all of them said "So do I!"

So Edmund showed them what he had for lunch
And they realised it wasn't so odd.
Gram chapatti pizza wraps, crispy treats and some fruit.
Not peculiar at all, it looked good.

The illustrations are so fun that the first time through, I didn’t pay attention to the story at all. I was so distracted by the pictures, I had to go back and re-read. These are incredibly well done.

For lunch I had spinach wraps, they are Greek, rice cakes with humus and grapes. Boy my wife loves me.

Up late, but I have to read your work with my 11 year son. Nice. I make his lunch for school and one day he came home and said “the kids asked him why is he eating green stuff”. The stuff was his seaweed snacks that he loves with hummus.
