Violet’s Vegan Comics is the creation of Violet Plum and Miranda Lemon. We’ve been working on it since 2012 and have loved every minute of it.

We love stories. We love exciting stories, we love scary stories, we love funny stories and action-packed stories, but we don’t like stories in which the heroes eat meat, drink milk, go fishing or buy a leather jacket. When the “good guys” do these things, especially in children’s stories, it sends a message. It says it’s okay to enslave and execute animals. It must be okay, the good guys do it.
But it’s not okay, and we’re tired of reading stories that pretend it is,

so we made some new ones.
The Violet’s Vegan Comics website is not just comics. Our fun, exciting and funny stories take many forms. Most are about vegan children who have battles to fight, victories to win, games to play and cakes to eat, but some are about animals, and some are about aliens. There are even a couple of ghost stories. The comics and stories here are free to read and always will be, but for those who want to hold an actual book in their hands (and you really can’t beat that can you?) you can pop over to our little vegan bookshop and choose from our ever-growing selection of vegan-friendly children’s books in paperback and hardback 😉

For pre-schoolers to teenagers, there are all sorts of vegan children’s stories here. We’ve read some of them aloud for you to enjoy at Vegan Story Time, plus we have vegan nursery rhymes, and vegan poems, and vegan things to make and do!
Our selection is continually growing so keep coming back – and tell your friends!
Why not follow the blog so you don’t miss the new stuff as it comes out?
We hope you enjoy it as much as we do 🙂
Oh, and if you want to drop us a line, please feel free! We’d love to hear from you ❤
I have nominated you to the Versatile Blogger Award.
The rules as per my understanding are;
• Give thanks to the person providing your nomination.
• Include a link to their blog
• Nominate 15 bloggers for the Versatile Blogger Award
• Finally, the hardest, tell the person who nominated you 7 things about yourself.
All the best, Cheers

Hello 🙂
I trust this message finds you well.
I’ve had the fortune of being awarded the Sunshine Award for blogs that readers generally enjoy and as part of the protocol I’ve nominated/awarded 10 other blogs as well.
The Sunshine Award is a process where a blogger is ‘tagged’ by a blogger who has received the award and then if they accept it writes a post. In that post they let readers get to know them a bit better by answering 10 questions and then recommend another 10 blogs.
As yours is a blog I enjoy and admire I’ve ‘tagged’ you as one of my awardees. I hope you don’t mind and whether you join in the game or not is your choice.
Full details can be found in my post here: http://fashionthatpays.wordpress.com/2013/11/25/better-late-than-never-sunshine-blog-award/
Thank you for putting together such a great blog that interests and inspires.
Regards
Dolly

I’ve been a vegetarian since Jan.1, 1986 and mostly lean vegan. It’s all my choice and I’ve never thought about going back. I still like the smell coming out of KFC and Burger King though. I guess if human flesh were being cooked up in the right way it would smell good too.

Conversely, the smell of the butcher’s or fishmonger’s or the deli counter is absolutely vomit-inducing. I think it smells like sewage. I can’t understand how that alone doesn’t put people off eating it.

Raw meat smells nasty. I became a vegetarian when I was 20 and a month after I read an interview with the punk band, Embrace in Flipside magazine (#47 fall of 1985). The singer, Iam Mackaye was talking about how animals are treated so badly and how we don’t even meat and how becoming a vegetarian was his personal choice for his life. I think it was his whole “this is my personal choice” attitude that affected me so much. I was living with my grandmother and told her “after tomorrow I’m not eating meat anymore.” She was fine with that and made mealternative

I was vegan for a long time until I lost the battle against chocolate chip cookies. I’ve been vegetarian since then, with plans to go back to vegan upon New Year’s, after the holidays, to make it easy on my mom when she cooks for the holidays 😉

We support the vegans. Live long and prosper. Of course vegans live long they do not have the toxins of meat eaters poisoning their bodies. My wife is second generation, vegan, daughters third generation and granddaughter Ariela is fourth generation. She would be thrilled for a post card from you, send it to me Barry Wax at 428 Lake Elizabeth Drive, Winter Haven, Florida, 33884. She is eleven. I would really appreciate it. Keep this going I think it is grand.

That is amazing! Your family are the perfect advocates for veganism 🙂 I have never met a second generation vegan let alone a fourth generation one! Your wife’s parents were obviously way ahead of their time and must have been fantastic people. My daughter loves sending postcards and she will be delighted to post one to your granddaughter this week, I wonder how long it will take to get there. Thanks for your lovely comment, best wishes to your all 😀
