What a wonderful series, I am really enjoying it, and yes I think we do need to be introduced to thinking in a completely different way. There are kind of other questions involved, like what happens if your better half does not follow these ideas, how to change their way of thinking without wrecking a good marriage, or maybe i am just over-thinking this whole issue. Keep up this wonderful work, best wishes and blessings, Charles.

Thanks so much Charles. I don’t think you can over-think it – there is so much to think about. It is a bit overwhelming actually. Perhaps little by little is the way to go. We could start by using less electricity and gradually get used to managing without, bit by bit. It shouldn’t be that hard in the summer when there are so many daylight hours and it’s nice and warm 🙂

Hi Violet, thanks for your interest and concern, I am looking at going onto solar power, the sticking point at the moment is that our roof (and all our neighbors roofs) have asbestos tiles on them, and therefore the companies are refusing to work on them unless we change the tiles, but having costed that it is way more than we can afford. I used to be a vegetarian, but Genevieve persuaded me to stop, though I often eat vegetarian when we go out. I think we will get there slowly, am putting in a veggie patch in the garden.

That’s one of the problems – how expensive it is. But now that I’ve learned about the toxic side of manufacturing solar panels it has put me off completely so I’m glad I haven’t been able to afford it. One of my commenters, Lloyds of Rochester, on this post: http://violetsvegnecomics.com/2015/09/25/we-love-birds/ includes links to news about new technologies being developed which don’t hurt wildlife. They look very promising such as a wind generator that uses sail fabric (like on boats) to create harmless shapes which catch the wind; and another with little pads, which can be attached in a grid and fixed to walls and sides of buildings, that vibrate gently in the wind and generate electricity. Very encouraging indeed, and maybe something like that would be better for your home?

Yes, some of them sound more practical than some of the present technology. Best wishes, and blessings, Charles.

I am with you on most points but the getting cold and not being able to read bit would be a major minus in my world.

I don’t think you read it properly 🙂 No one is getting cold and everyone is reading 😉

Maybe I didn’t as I was thinking about when our electricity goes off and we try to continue on by candle light, very romantic but useless for threading a needle. Sorry Violet, for my fast read through of your post. I am battling with a dreadful internet that leaves me without connecting to the blogging world for days and then suddenly allows me a half an hour – hence the rush.
