Violet’s Vegan Comics is the creation of Violet Plum and Miranda Lemon. We’ve been working on it since 2012 and have loved every minute of it.

We love stories. We love exciting stories, we love scary stories, we love funny stories and action-packed stories, but we don’t like stories in which the heroes eat meat, drink milk, go fishing or buy a leather jacket. When the “good guys” do these things, especially in children’s stories, it sends a message. It says it’s okay to enslave and execute animals. It must be okay, the good guys do it.
But it’s not okay, and we’re tired of reading stories that pretend it is,

so we made some new ones.
The Violet’s Vegan Comics website is not just comics. Our fun, exciting and funny stories take many forms. Most are about vegan children who have battles to fight, victories to win, games to play and cakes to eat, but some are about animals, and some are about aliens. There are even a couple of ghost stories. The comics and stories here are free to read and always will be, but for those who want to hold an actual book in their hands (and you really can’t beat that can you?) you can pop over to our little vegan bookshop and choose from our ever-growing selection of vegan-friendly children’s books in paperback and hardback 😉

For pre-schoolers to teenagers, there are all sorts of vegan children’s stories here. We’ve read some of them aloud for you to enjoy at Vegan Story Time, plus we have vegan nursery rhymes, and vegan poems, and vegan things to make and do!
Our selection is continually growing so keep coming back – and tell your friends!
Why not follow the blog so you don’t miss the new stuff as it comes out?
We hope you enjoy it as much as we do 🙂
Oh, and if you want to drop us a line, please feel free! We’d love to hear from you ❤
I am following you, this is interesting and healthy 🙂

Your blog is awesome! I love the concept, drawings, message – everything 🙂 Children are the best because they totally understand and embrace veganism and why we should not eat animals – it’s very black and white to them, no cultural biases get in the way. Killing is killing, any way you slice it.
Cheers!

I love your comics – I just read the one about Edmund’s lunch! As someone who had sometimes unusual lunch box contents when I was a kid, it’s great to see stories like this which will hopefully give children who don’t have typical diets to be proud of what they’re eating 🙂

Your comics have very striking and impressive visuals. They can be heartwrenching but also very positive. I can’t say I’m 100% vegetarian, but I’m leaning that way. I’ll pass this along to potential vegetarians, especially my 2 nephews and niece who will also enjoy the stories and illustrations and appreciate the message you are conveying.

Thanks for the work you do introducing children to a vegetarian lifestyle! My daughter was twelve when she decided many years ago to become a vegetarian — unfortunately, although I tried to be supportive, I knew nothing about it, and could only pass on to her what little I could glean from the library. Thanks to blogs like yours parents have access to so much more information to be supportive to anyone wanting to begin a vegan lifestyle.

Lovely blog. My 13 year old niece has just become a veggie and she and her friend eat vegan every Tuesday. She doesn’t like a lot of food things which makes it hard for her so I really admire her giving it ago. I’m sure she’ll love your blog. I’m going to send her the link. Xx

What an amazing blog. Of course I am drawn to the children’s poetry and illustrations as I too write similar and dream to have them illustrated; but yours are so much deeper …. a wonderful site for all those who are struggling to explain why they may be different, the pictures do the talking for the little ones’ range of understanding. I believe they also help the older ones/adults who are ‘unable’, because of their love for animals, to view the cruelty in reality. Now following!

Hi! I am a vegetarian, from birth and it’s nice to see more and more people talking about this. Growing up, I was always the only one who was. Now that I’m an adult, I’m finding more people are becoming more vegetarian and vegan. Great site!

What an awesome idea you have! i LOVE the fact that you are supporting children who may not be “like the others”. I had to help my daughter with that as it is necessary for us to be gluten and dairy free.
