and there’s lots more interesting facts about turkeys here, including the fact that, in the wild, baby turkeys stay with their mother all year and, though turkeys habitually roost (sleep) in trees, safe above ground level, babies are unable to fly for their first couple of weeks so their mother stays with them on the ground to keep them safe and warm until they are able to fly up into the tree with her.

I have met several because I used to help a friend to take care of her turkey friends and they are so happy and friendly 🙂 It’s a beautiful thing to be able to meet them and have a relationship with such wonderful creatures.

There was a wonderful documentary about wild turkeys on the BBC a few years back. I wish everyone could see it and understand what amazing creatures they are. Not ‘meat’, not Christmas dinner x
